The FFA should start stripping points for shit football but every team in the league would be in negative figures. Having seen the Central Coast Rays qualify for the Australian Rugby Championship final and re-watching the Socceroos’ Asian Cup campaign earlier in the day, I thought I would be desensitized enough to see brain numbingly dull football in Sydney V Melbourne. How I was wrong.

Corica forced the only save in the game with a shot that was as fast as Jardel sprinting, Kemp’s crosses were more likely to end up in the corporate boxes than in the penalty area and pro-tip to the linesmen, if the ball last touched someone on the white team before it crossed the line, it isn’t a throw-in to the white team. The only thing that made me happy about this game was come the 90th minute, I would know my decision to not invest in a $160 season ticket would prove a wise one as the medical bills to treat my increased blood pressure and uncontrollable eye twitching from seeing Branko’s “sexy soccer” would have ballooned that figure out to thousands of dollars mark.

It's not so much that it was a bad game, more that, if you haven't been locked in a white room for the past 15 years with only a dried-out sponge to companion you during that time, you may have found it slightly on the dull side. I know I come across as critical most of the time because I want to see things like entertaining football and people who can cross a ball to a player rather than to the 300-foot high rise apartment complex two towns over but this game was quite simply appalling, even for Australia's ever low standards of football. This is why the FFA has to step in.

Melbourne’s performance was not worthy of 3 points and if the FFA condones such a display by giving them the full points, then they are making a mockery of Australian football. Not that I think that Sydney should go unpunished either. They should have to play the rest of their home games behind closed doors so fans don’t have to see such terrible football again this season. But more could be done.

Mark Shield should have abandoned the game at half time after such a dismal opening display. Instead, he continued the game and fans had to witness a half where both sides were hoping that one another would eventually make a mistake rather than forcing anything upon each other. This is where the FFA needs to step in and tell the referees to get a hold of the game. Literally. Mark Shield could have stopped Juninho from being subbed off for Patrick because it was fucken stupid. He could have stopped pretending that he doesn’t have a bias against Sydney and simply start intercepting passes to Sydney’s defence line. Hell, he could have sent Ernie Merrick out of the stadium so that the most interesting moment from the Victorian side wouldn’t have been Archie Thompson being struck by a paper plane from the sidelines.

I would drown you in a sea of words about how bad it was but long term drug abuse has left me with short term memory loss, and I am ever thankful of this. So in closing, if you are an a-league season ticket holder, smoke more weed. Bonghits for Jesus, Buddha and any other god you can think of because you don’t want to remember performances like that. Ever.

Bloody hell Lying Truth, stop defelecting from the subject and get with what JayFC originally wrote. No point in doing that. JayFC has wrote a poignant article that exposes alot of the frailties going on in T-shirt manufacturing and you want to talk about the A-league.
